Complete Frontierville Debris (Cactus, Grass, Thorns, Skulls) Guide

It seems that the main issue as a Frontierville player is to make Debris (thorns, grass, cactus, skulls and rocks) grown in our Homesteads. Well, I have never had this issue as I am always getting them. That’s why I have created this guide to help you out, this will be a long guide so be patient and read the whole thing. Before I start with this guide I would like to point out that Frontierville Debris are: Thorns, Grass, Cactus, Skulls and Rocks. I will first post a really good guide written by a Zynga forum moderator:

Debris is one factor we always seem to need on our homestead. Rocks, thorns, skulls, grass, wildflowers & cactus. Many of us got rid of all of our debris early on in the game, just to discover we needed it in future missions. This is a short and simple guide on some of the best ways to get that debris back on your homestead.

How to find Frontierville Debris

The main thing you need to remember is debris needs room to grow. It doesn’t matter which type you’re after, you have to leave open a spot big enough for it to appear. This means no animals, buildings, fences, decorations – nothing in that area. Debris will only grow a certain amount of space away from items, so if your homestead is packed with stuff from one side to the other, your debris has no where to grow!

Many people like keeping a variety of debris on their homestead, to be safe for whatever may come. For those who *only* want a certain kind of debris, make sure to prune your area from time to time. If you’re only out to grow grass and rocks, keep your area clear of all the rest. This will allow more room and more chances for your wanted debris to pop up. Continue to prune until you are happy with your end result.

After you have a nice area to start spawning your debris, you may want to check out these helpful tips from fellow players on how they got debris to spawn for them.

Tips To Spawn Debris

Here are tips on how to spawn Debris from Grass to Thorns. Check it out:

  • If you are a new player, go ahead and keep some of the debris you start out with. You will need it later on so this is a heads up.
  • When neighbors finish a storage expansion, they post a cactus on the feeds. Try to grab them when you can. You can also obtain a cactus from turning in the April Fools collection.
  • For grass, it is suggested that putting out a few saplings tends to spawn grass around them.
  • After harvesting a section of crops in the northern part of their homestead, thorns were more likely to grow in that area where the crops were.
  • A lot of people find that the upper right hand side is better for growing thorns on than any other area.
  • Some users report that buying a thorn from the market will encourage others to pop up. This seems to vary from time to time but its worth a shot!
  • If you Homestead has no trees it will be more difficult to have debris. So have many trees as possible (Ex: Oak Trees).

Another tip:

When you see that is impossible to get debris in your homestead make the following: Get as many cactus as you can from the Aprill Fool collection and place them in your homestead then let a big space in your homestead after you put the cactus and wait a few hours, this image will show you how:

The blue color is the cactus that you have added and the red is the big space that you will need to make.

Debris Myth

There are a lot of players saying a lot of myths about Debris in Frontierville. Like Zynga will drop the rate of growing up Debris when there is a mission. This is totally a MYTH. That’s not true. The grown rate of Debris are always the same, on the contrary when there were many players complaining about Debris are not growing they increased the growth rate. So don’t believe anyone about this MYTH.

Wrong Way to Get Debris Screen Shots

The following are Screenshots from Frontierville players doing the wrong way. After each screenshot I will explain why.

No Grass #1

No Grass in Frontierville Homestead

In this homestead the player has reported that they don’t have grass. That is obvious because the empty space is around animals. Debris (mainly Grass) will not grow around animals. My Suggestion here will be move your animals up and decorations then remove the care packages and wait few hours without login to your game and it will grow.

No Grass #2

Frontierville No Grass

Owner of this homestead reported: “As you can see, I have quite a large area for debris to grow. I get most everything else, EXCEPT grass. ”

Solution:

Yours is better than most others I’ve seen, but your area isn’t as large as you think. Debris in general won’t grow around animals in a pretty big square. I would move the two spring birds that are next to the Jack statue away for now as they’re also closing off some of your space.

No Grass Homestead Solution

No Grass #3

Here is another Frontierville player saying that is impossible to have Grass. and here is what she/he says:

I’m having the same problem. I can’t grow debris AT ALL. I planted trees and cactus from my inventory, and even used horseshoes to put a wildflower on my frontier, hoping they would spawn others. But nothing. The ONLY debris I have that I haven’t put there myself is the debris I gained from an expansion. I’m afraid to use THAT debris to complete quests, because I’ll basically have to use it all, and then I’m back to having none again. Why isn’t debris growing Zynga?

Screenshot: (The Red X’s are debris I placed there myself!)

Well you have a big problem here, you added the debris in the wrong way. Here is the solution:

The Trees that you have added should be at the top and cactus you should put them at the top side. The blue arrows where you should put the trees and the cactus in yellow:

No Debris #4

This player mentioned that has 2 months without debris here is his homestead:

No debris in my frontierville

This player has a big empty space but there is a main issue. He has NO TREES. and this is a big factor that you should have in your Homestead. I will recommend to move your building a little bit in front and put in one line trees. Wait till the trees fully grow and you will see a lot of debris in your homestead.

Linda the skulls can be spawned if you have a good empty space without any grass or any debris. It will grow:

    - Thorns and Skulls
    - Then other debris

Or you can trade the Graveyard collection, if you don’t have any of the halloween animals or the graveyard you can visit those neighbors that have those animals and feed them it might drop that collection item.
